Born in Chicago in 2003, Sybris is an indie rock quartet recognized for a sound that blends mid-'90s alternative rock with angular, experimental pop. Led by the powerful vocals of Angela Mullenhour, the group gained critical acclaim with their 2005 self-titled debut and their 2008 follow-up, Into the Trees. After appearances at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits as well as several national tours the band had a decade-long hiatus. They reunited in 2023 to finally release their "lost" third album, Gold on Hold, which was officially launched in September 2024 via the Absolutely Kosher label. Most recently Sybris released a split single with UK’s Muscle Vest.
